Dr. Suess Cupcakes (Of Course)

T is for...
Thing 1 and Thing 2!

Yes, from Dr. Suess!

"I will pick up the hook.
you will see something new.
two things. and I call them
Thing One and Thing Two.
These Things will not bite you.
they want to have fun.'
Then, out of the box
came Thing Two and Thing One!
And they ran to us fast.
They said, 'how do you do?
would you like to shake hands
with Thing One and Thing Two?"
-The Cat in the Hat

I have always always wanted to make these cupcakes. Ever since I saw them on the web. So fun and whimsical.

I made mine with pain icing, coconut, red foil liners, construction paper tags tacked onto the liner, and then cotton candy hair.

There's also a little buffer between the cupcake's iced topping and the cotton candy. Reason being?

Melted cotton candy tops!

The internet displayed such cupcakes, deflated and upsetting to their bakers, and I began to brainstorm as I was thinking up this whole letter scheme.

I decided on doing chinese rice noodles. Coated in a blue tinted white chocolate, even without the cotton candy the cupcakes looked adorable and the little rice noodles worked as little branches, elevating the cotton candy from the moist icing that would (if contact occurred) unfortunately melt the cotton candy hair.

See? I would layer them once again in the blue if I was going cotton candy-less. As you can see, a LOT of rice noodle is peaking through. Not ideal if it was going to be an independent, cotton candy free, look.

Adorable lil' devils.
